Kirkdale Port is a Greenfield Campsite which is over 200 metres long by 50 metres wide and runs parallel to the foreshore. Between the field and the sea there is a strip of thick bushes which act as a good shelter and through which there is access to the shore by a number of paths. In this part of Galloway the coastline is very rocky and the nearest bathing beach is at Mossyard, three miles to the east. Click here for a location map.
The field is very flat and fenced to the landward side. All structures inside the fence belong to the Galloway District Scouts Council. There is a hut which is used for storage but may also be used on wet weather days. Altar fires, fire pits, water stand pipes and chemical toilet disposal points are all on site.
